Thought for the Day

"Oh, it is wonderful to know that our Heavenly Father loves us - even with all our flaws! His love is such that even should we give up on ourselves, He never will. We see ourselves in terms of yesterday and today. Our Heavenly Father sees us in terms of forever. Although we might settle for less, Heavenly Father won't, for He sees us as the glorious beings we are capable of becoming."

Summer Is Going Well (so far)

I've really been enjoying sleeping in a little bit more, relaxing about the house, and preparing Girls Camp things. I could do with a little less fighting, feeding, and breaking things.

New things in our lives:
* Summer hair for the boys - mohawks!! And of course they look dang cool.
* Shattered back door! I think we are going to have to "white-trash" it though. It's actually still in the frame, just spiderwebbed all over. I'm thinking we need to get some duct tape and tape it all to keep it in. Another bonus to that - it'll keep some of the sunlight out and help with the electric bill. :)
* The 3 biggest kids are starting up Judo again. Elizabeth has been doing it, but the boys took a break. And they are starting up again; mostly because Daddy will be there helping with the class.
* We've got the pool up - kids are loving it and spending lots of time in it!!! They've gotten a little bit of sunburn yesterday, but I found the sunscreen so today there wasn't a problem.
* Summer scheduling has started too. The kids have a limited time to play video games, and more time to play outside and in the pool. We've started the reading program at the Library and the kids all picked out some challenging books to read this summer.
* I was asked to be a YCL Leader again this year for Girls Camp. I LOVE doing it!!!! I have really come to love these girls and I really do enjoy them. Please pray for me though. :) We have a tough group this year. I'll need more patience!
* Bret is off work for the summer. I think we've ironed out the kinks with having him home. After a few years of this, we (meaning me) are handling it a lot better. He might do a little extra work for a guy at the Crime Lab. That would be nice.
* We are not heading to Utah like we usually do. The main reason is because our poor van will not make it. We are trying to run it into the group because it's paid for - but we can't make long trips in it. Not super reliable. But by not going, it works great because we are saving the trip for the winter. My nephew, Skyler, is getting baptized. So we'll get to attend that!!!!
*Produce is starting up again. I have a friend who has a friend who...... You get the idea. :) Point is, I can get boxes and boxes of produce for free or real cheap. I'm SOOOOO excited about this!!! (Bret isn't)
I got strawberries yesterday and made jam - yummy! Today I got squash, corn, and pears. Oh, and I also got green peppers yesterday. My plans for all this wonderful food? Well, I made the jam. I think I'll get some ice cream and make strawberry shakes for the kids. Then tonight we'll be having corn on the cob with dinner. I'll freeze some too for later. I'm cooking up some of the squash to make soup. I'll puree some to use in recipes. And of course bake some to eat. Tomorrow we'll have stuffed green peppers. And Bret LOVES pears!! So do the kids.
* Overall, things are really good for us - happy and healthy!!! We are together and loving it. What more can I say?!

Steph, I'm so glad you are staying busy it will keep you out of trouble. I can't even begin to tell you how much I appriciate you and all the help you were to Sartiano in getting my room packed up. You went above and beyond. I was told that your husband must come back next year and do his crime scence mock up for us again. I hope you have a nice relaxing summer-I'm not sure I could do it with Justin around all the time. :) Talk to you soon.

I wish I had a friend of a friend... BUT that's ok. We still have school for 2 more days. You'll be AWESOME with the YCL's! Miss you.

It sounds like summer is organized. Today is the first day of summer break for us so hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have it all figured out too.
