Thought for the Day

"Oh, it is wonderful to know that our Heavenly Father loves us - even with all our flaws! His love is such that even should we give up on ourselves, He never will. We see ourselves in terms of yesterday and today. Our Heavenly Father sees us in terms of forever. Although we might settle for less, Heavenly Father won't, for He sees us as the glorious beings we are capable of becoming."

I've been misunderstood! :(

I've been musing this over in my head about how some took my comments about parents and PTA. I normally would leave it alone, but I think I'd like to clear up my meaning.
In my previous post, I mentioned how frustrated I was about parents who didn't help with PTA I also mentioned in the same sentence that the parents then complain about things with the school or things going on there. I think some people missed the second part of that sentence. My frustration isn't with parents who don't support the PTA, but with the ones who don't support and THEN complain! I don't care if all or none of the parents are at the PTA meetings or selling things for Fundraisers. I also HATE the cookie dough selling and won't let my kids sell them. My point is that we had only myself and one other parent volunteer to help at the Book Fair. And yeah, that's a little frustrating. But my biggest problem is that then we have parents and teachers wondering why the PTA isn't doing things a certain way. Or they are wanting PTA to do these big huge events. That's just not possible! Can't do much with only 2 parent volunteers. :) I really DO get angry/frustrated with people who want things done at the schools or don't like how the schools are running and complain and whine. If you want to see changes or don't agree with things, join the PTA, be in the classroom, or talk with the teacher. Heck, make a pest of yourself if need be. And be willing to put work into the changes. I guess my feeling is that you really don't have room to complain if you aren't working to make a change. So sue me. :)

I WILL agree with being a pro-active parent at school! I have had a lot of eye-opening experiences since being in the PTA. I encourage others to be active in anyway they feel possible. It may not be joining PTA, that's ok. So if you want to debate THAT topic, we can. And I surely will win! :P By the way, if you were part of the PTA you could voice your opinion of the cookie fundraising! LOL

Now as asidenote, it needs to be understood that being "in" the PTA does NOT mean being the President, Vice, or anything like that. I am just a little parent that gets to vote on the issues of the PTA. When I go to the meetings, I hear the things going on at school.
Do you sometimes wonder WHAT the PTA really does? Well, they put on events at the school like carnivals, dances, Book Fairs, and yes - Fundraisers. The money that the PTA gets from different things is used on things the school/students/teachers need. For example, we have been raising money for a Kinder playground and also coverings for the playgrounds.

You go girl! Unfortunately, I don't have a child in school yet, I am still blissfully clueless, but I feel for you.
