It all started last night. I was busy until 1am watching Jane Austen movies. I know - not a very smart choice! I had to get up early to get ready to go to school and help with the Book Fair. :(
So we get up and get ready for school. We are running a few minutes late and the kids notice that the pool we put up on Saturday was low. The water was running out somehow (a slow leak or something). I didn't have time to figure it out. We get in the car and drive off. Jake pipes up from the back seat, "Mommy, my tummy doesn't feel well." I figure he's just needing a BM so I tell him he'll be fine in a little bit.
We get to school and I find out that I'm the only one running the Book Fair all this week. Don't even get me started on STUPID-PAIN-IN-THE-***-PARENTS-THAT-THINK-THEIR-LIVES-ARE-TOO-IMPORTANT-TO-HELP-BUT-ARE-WILLING-TO-COMPLAIN-ABOUT-HOW-SUCKY-THINGS-ARE!!!! (oops, I guess I got started). The other women (wives of the PTA Pres. and VP) actually work @ the school and have a busy day so they won't be available to help very much.
Did I mention that I have to have Livvy with me all day?! No?! Well, yes, I did have her with me all day at the Book Fair.
So I had a TON of stuff to carry in just to keep her entertained and even a blanket and pillow in case I needed to give her a nap.
So I'm doing the "Book Fair" thing and the "Mommy" thing and even the "trying to be cool" thing because I have 2 6th graders helping me all day. It takes a LOT of effort (and even more Mt. Dew) for me to be cool but these kids have it in their minds that I'm so fun from my last Book Fair experience. So I still have to impress. ARGH!!
Suddenly the nurse comes in and tells me that I have to go to the nurses office. I giggled and said, "oh, there's no way I can do your job too!" She laughed and just shook her head. Then - light bulb - I said, "who's sick? Is it Jake?"
Sure enough, Jake had puked in the middle of the hallway on his way to the bathroom! I feel SOOOOO bad for him. It's bad enough to be sick, but even worse for others to see. When I went to see him, he stunk! :) I changed his clothes (the nurse has extra - we found this out last Book Fair) and had him come and lay down in this area I had blocked off for Livvy. He seemed to be doing ok later on so we stayed at the Book Fair. Because they really didn't have anyone else who could do it.
Jake finally falls asleep watching TMNT. YEAH!!! Well, when school ends and we get packed up and ready to leave, I wake him up. And within minutes, he is spewing all over the place. I mean the gut-retching, dry-heaving, painful type of barf. My poor boy. Nobody could see him (a big counter blocking the way), but everyone could hear him. I heard some kid say (really loud), "whats that yucky noise?!" My poor, poor boy.
So, I get him done and cleaned (and the carpet cleaned) and we get out to the car. Suddenly, RALPH!!!!!!!!!!!! (again)
Long story Long, Jake is sick as a stinkin dog!!!
I had to laugh because as I was cleaning him up at home he asks me, "Mom.... Do I have to go to school tomorrow?" LOL At least his priorities are straight.
And now as I am sitting here (having had a bit of a cry) I can actually laugh at the situation. Picture in your mind:
Me
4 kids (one holding a Dora pony house and without any shoes cause I was just trying to get her out to the darn car)
5 backpacks (3 of them bulging out of their seams)
2 large blankets
2 pillows (one pink and one camo - for a more visual image)
2 largish rubbermaids full of toys
a carrying case of DVDs
a 64 oz. mug with my Mt. Dew (sorry to let some of you down - I tried)
and a partridge in a pear tree
Well, maybe tomorrow will be better - one can only hope!

HAHAA! Love it "do I have to go to school tomorrow!?" LOL! Kali's home today - and I'm one of those "my life is way too important" to go man the booth at the book fair...wanna make something of it? Gonna complain about parents who won't pay $10 for a $2 vat of cookie dough that the school only gets $5 for? better not, I'll win! I'll make the cookie dough for free and have the kids sell it for $10 and then give 100% to the school. Oh yah - don't get ME started! ;9
Hope Jakie gets better soon and no one else jumps on that puke wagon!
You poor poor girl!!! And I totally agree with Heidi about the cookie thing. I'd rather just write a check for $20 than have the kid do the cookie selling thing!
OK!!! I have to just laugh @ you poor day!! I can totaly realate to it. I feel sooo bad for you and Jake. The same thing has happend to Seth, TWICE! I don't know why, but he likes to get sick at school and this last time, he got sick all over someones agenda and the floor. The time before he made it to the trash. Its good I was @ the school. BUT you've got to love our kids. THX FOR KEEPING MINE FOR ME WHILE I WAS GONE!!!
